Alick's Home Medical's History

In 1982, Jeannine Alick traveled to Mayo Clinic with her mother who was in need of surgery. It was there in that hospital setting where Jeannine met a young couple from Italy, Roberta and Carlo. The couple had traveled to the renowned research clinic in Rochester, Minnesota as they were told it was the only institution that might save Roberta from her cancer. When Roberta and Jeannine met, Roberta was recuperating from surgery and in time, would need a full-body cast.

Always one to care for others, Jeannine was concerned about how the couple would manage the six weeks they would need to wait out for Roberta’s recovery. Jeannine invited Roberta to her home in Indiana where she could get the love and care of her family during those weeks of recuperation.

During that visit, Jeannine searched for hospital equipment, medical devices, and supplies that would make her home functional and comfortable for Roberta. It was then Nafe J. Alick, a pharmacist and Jeannine’s husband, saw that Jeannine truly enjoyed caring for others and realized there was an unmet need for home medical equipment in their community. He encouraged Jeannine to consider filling that void.

Later the same year, Alick's Home Medical opened its first location in Elkhart, IN. Customers were impressed with the twenty-four-hour service and Jeannine’s deep knowledge and sincere desire to help improve their lives. As their trust in Alick's grew, word of mouth spread and under Jeannine’s guidance, the business flourished. In 1991, Jeannine was joined by her son, Nafe S. Alick.

With five locations and also a presence online, Alick's Home Medical continues to push boundaries to provide high-quality product offerings and services to all of our customers. Our team works hard to help our customers navigate the often confusing terrain of healthcare. For us, making a difference in people’s lives for the better is not a motto, it is our mission – Because We Care.
